IMGW Warns: Up to 37 Degrees on Tuesday, But That Won’t Be the Biggest Problem

As the beginning of August brings very warm air from the southwest to Poland, IMGW forecasts extreme heat alongside dangerous storms featuring intense rain, hail, and strong winds reaching up to 90 km/h.

Weather Forecast for Tuesday: Heat and Storms

On Tuesday, skies will be mostly partly cloudy, increasing to overcast in some areas. The highest temperature is forecasted for the southeast, where thermometers will show up to 37 degrees Celsius, and in the center about 34 degrees. By the sea, it will be clearly cooler, from 22 degrees in Hel to 27 degrees in Ustka and Gdańsk. The wind will remain mostly weak and variable.

Transient rainfall and storms will occur in the west of the country, the Western Beskids, and the Tatra Mountains, with local hail possible. During storms in the west, rainfall could reach up to 40 millimeters, and wind gusts will reach up to 90 km/h.

Hot Night from August 4 to 5

In the night from August 4 to 5, the sky in the southeast will remain mostly clear or with little cloud cover. In the rest of the country from the west, clouds will begin to increase, accompanied by transient rainfall and storms, locally with hail. The minimum temperature will range from 17 degrees Celsius in the northeast to 23 degrees in the southeast, and around 20 degrees in most of the country.

During storms, total precipitation may reach 20 millimeters, and wind gusts will reach about 70 km/h. In the morning in the northeast, short-term fogs locally may reduce visibility to about 300 meters.

Weather Forecast for Wednesday: Temperatures Up to 39 Degrees

Wednesday will be even hotter than Tuesday. In the southeast, the temperature may reach up to 39 degrees Celsius, in the center about 36 degrees, and in the north about 27 degrees. Such high values will be particularly burdensome due to the persisting warmth also at night.

In the north, west, and partially in the center, transient rainfall and storms with local hail will appear at times. Storms are also possible in the afternoon in Podhale. Total precipitation may reach up to 30 millimeters, and wind gusts will reach about 80 kilometers per hour.
