The shooting took place on Monday, June 15, near a parking lot on Królowej Jadwigi Street in Biała Podlaska, in the Lublin Province. Andrzej Fijołek of the Lublin Provincial Police Headquarters stated that authorities received reports of shots fired at a man shortly before 10:00 AM, noting that the perpetrator had fled the scene.
Victim Identified as Russian Critic
Journalist Robert Zieliński of tvn24.pl and Onet have identified the deceased as Siemion Skrepetski, a Russian artist known for his criticism of Vladimir Putin. An unidentified law enforcement source described the event as an execution, noting several shots were fired at close range, followed by a final shot to ensure death. The source further suggested that the victim, who frequently posted his location on social media, was an easy target.
International Context of the Incident
Independent Russian media, including Novaya Gazeta Europe and the SOTA Telegram channel, have confirmed the identity of the victim. The portal centrumeuropy.pl reported that Skrepetski had been traveling across Europe organizing actions mocking the Russian government, most recently in Berlin.
