Poland’s Energy Minister has established maximum prices for gasoline and diesel fuel effective Thursday, marking a decrease from Wednesday’s rates.
Fuel Prices Set for Thursday
The maximum price for 95-octane gasoline will be 6.08 złoty per liter, 98-octane gasoline at 6.61 złoty, and diesel fuel at 7.23 złoty on Thursday.
This represents a price reduction across all fuel types compared to Wednesday, with diesel being 18 groszy cheaper per liter.
Wednesday’s Price Caps
Maximum prices for Wednesday, as announced on Tuesday, were set at 6.16 złoty for 95-octane gasoline, 6.70 złoty for 98-octane gasoline, and 7.41 złoty for diesel fuel.
Future Price Announcements
The next announcement from the Energy Minister regarding fuel prices will be published on Thursday and will determine prices for Friday.
Initial Price Caps on March 31st
On March 31st, the first day of the implementation of maximum prices, 95-octane gasoline cost a maximum of 6.16 złoty, 98-octane gasoline 6.76 złoty, and diesel fuel 7.60 złoty per liter.
Regulations and Enforcement
The Ministry of Energy publishes daily announcements regarding maximum fuel prices on weekdays. The maximum price is valid from the day following its publication in the Polish Monitor.
Selling fuel above the maximum price is subject to a fine of up to 1 million złoty, and inspections are carried out by the National Tax Administration.
Price Calculation Formula
The maximum price is determined using a specific formula, including the average wholesale price of fuel on the domestic market, plus excise duty, fuel surcharge, a sales margin of 0.30 złoty per liter, and VAT.
