On Friday, 28 November, Viktor Orbán met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. During the welcome, the heads of the Hungarian delegation turned and snatched a brief moment, as captured by a video shared by political scientist Dominik Héjj on X. Héjj joked that “they slipped back‑to‑back.”
Orbán Proposes Ukraine Peace Talks in Budapest
Orbán announced that Hungary is ready to host peace talks regarding Ukraine in Budapest. Putin thanked the Hungarian premier for the proposal and said he would be delighted if the city were used for such meetings, expressing gratitude for the support.
Hungary Stresses Russian Energy as Core Supply
Energy cooperation between Hungary and Russia remained a key subject of the Moscow talks. Orbán emphasized the importance of this partnership and declared that Hungary would not abandon it, regardless of external pressure. He said Russian energy is now and will continue to be the main provider of Hungary’s energy supply.
