Warsaw’s Narutowicza Square to Undergo Major Renovation, Disrupting Tram Traffic

A significant renovation of Narutowicza Square in Warsaw begins April 27th, causing a week-long suspension of tram service along Grójecka and Krakowska Avenue.

Narutowicza Square Modernization Begins

Warsaw’s Narutowicza Square is entering a new phase of redevelopment, with the Capital City Development Office initiating modernization work. This will cause temporary disruptions for public transport passengers and drivers in the Grójecka, Banacha, and tram loop areas.

The investment scope includes new sidewalk surfaces, installation of street furniture, green space planting, parking reorganization, construction of a green track bed, and extension of tram stops at the loop.

Tram Service Disruption and Replacement

Tram lines 1, 7, 9, 14, and 15 will only operate to Narutowicza Square. Lines 22 and 25 will terminate at Starynkiewicza Square. A replacement bus line, Z-9, will connect Narutowicza Square with the P+R Al. Krakowska loop, with some courses shortened to the Hynka stop.

The tram service disruption will last from Monday, April 27th, to Sunday, May 3rd, affecting the section from Narutowicza Square to the P+R Al. Krakowska and Banacha loops.

Additional Infrastructure Work

The tram shutdown will also allow for additional work related to connecting the new tram line to the West Station. This will also impact drivers, preventing left turns from Grójecka Street onto Banacha Street, with detours via Dickensa and Pawińskiego streets.

Impact on Traffic and Residents

The modernization of Narutowicza Square is a major change for the Ochota district. Residents and passengers should expect temporary traffic reorganization during the work, affecting both public transport and surrounding streets.
