During a Radio ZET broadcast on May 18, PiS MP Jacek Ozdoba confirmed that Jarosław Kaczyński has demanded the freezing of party-affiliated associations to prevent internal competition and potential fractures within the ranks.
The mandate for freezing associations
Journalist Beata Lubecka questioned MP Jacek Ozdoba regarding rumors that Jarosław Kaczyński ordered the liquidation of associations linked to Law and Justice (PiS). Ozdoba clarified that the chairman’s directive specifically requires a “freeze” rather than total dissolution.
Ozdoba explained that Kaczyński views these entities as problematic when they begin to resemble independent structures competing against the party. The MP suggested that the energy currently invested in these external bodies should be redirected toward strengthening PiS itself.
Internal mediation and the Morawiecki-Czarnek dynamic
Addressing internal party relations, Ozdoba stated that former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Przemysław Czarnek have successfully reconciled. According to the MP, a series of meetings between the two has clarified previous doubts and resolved points of tension.
Tensions over the Rozwój Plus association
The controversy stems from the “Rozwój Plus” association, established by Morawiecki to attract voters through new programming. Kaczyński initially feared the group would evolve into a rival faction, threatening to exclude its members from PiS electoral lists. A compromise was eventually reached, moving the association’s activities into a formal Council of Experts while pausing other operations.
Defining the path forward
Following the agreement, Kaczyński confirmed at an April press conference that while the association would not be liquidated, the party would continue working on a long-term solution for managing such entities. Morawiecki emphasized that the focus remains on broad social and programmatic activity to ensure a unified patriotic front.
