Olkusz: Earthfall Near Home Forces Evacuation

At around 21:00 on Thursday, a landslip engulfed a street in Olkusz, Poland, forcing temporary relocation of residents near the affected building.

At about 21:00 on Thursday, a landslip occurred on Rzemieślnicza Street in Olkusz. The area was secured; residents of the nearest building were temporarily housed with a family.

Extent of the Breach

The slip measured roughly two metres in diameter and four metres deep, as reported by the Kraków Gazette. The landslip also damaged the sidewalk, lamp, electrical box, and a fence.

Investigations Launched

Officials said they are working to further secure the site and determine possible causes. The State Geological Institute and the Bolesław Mining and Metallurgical Works were notified.

City Demands Compliance

The municipality urged residents to follow the instructions of on‑scene services and cooperate with the ongoing measures.
