Warsaw prosecutors have partially dismissed an investigation into claims of pressure exerted on members of the State Electoral Commission regarding PiS’s financial report.
Święczkowski Announces “Coup d’état”
The investigation began following a notification from Bogdan Święczkowski, President of the Constitutional Tribunal, who announced a “coup d’état” on February 4th of last year.
According to Święczkowski, this is linked to the actions of the government since December 13, 2023. Prosecutor Michał Ostrowski initiated the investigation without prior registration in the prosecutor’s registry.
Investigation Details
During questioning, the President of the Constitutional Tribunal testified that he believes the actions of government members amount to preventing compliance with rulings issued by the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court.
Świeczkowski cited a resolution from December 18, 2024, concerning counteracting the negative effects of the constitutional crisis.
