Russia launched widespread drone and missile attacks across Ukraine on Wednesday, April 15th, resulting in multiple fatalities, including a 12-year-old boy in Kyiv.
Ukrainian Air Defense Reports Extensive Attacks
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force reported that Russia conducted attacks using missiles and strike drones between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM on Wednesday, April 15th. A total of 382 projectiles were detected. Ukrainian military officials stated that air defense systems intercepted or neutralized 369 enemy targets.
The military recorded debris falling in 12 locations, with one direct missile strike and 12 drone strikes impacting six locations.
Six Confirmed Dead in Odesa, Four in Kyiv
Odesa suffered the highest number of casualties, with at least six confirmed deaths. In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported four fatalities, including a 12-year-old boy.
Forty-five Kyiv residents were injured, with 26 hospitalized. The remaining injured received on-site or outpatient care, including two children.
Kyiv Hit by Fires and Collapsed Building
Russian attacks in Kyiv caused fires in both residential and non-residential buildings, as well as vehicles. A building was damaged in the Obolon district, leading to subsequent fires. Four paramedics were injured.
In the Desnyan district, a two-story residential building caught fire after being hit by falling debris from a rocket. In the Podil district, the first floor of a private house collapsed, and rescuers successfully retrieved a child from the rubble, later rescuing the child’s mother.
Eastern Ukraine Also Targeted
Local authorities in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, reported two deaths and 30 injuries due to Russian attacks. Several residential buildings also caught fire. A 14-year-old girl was injured in the Novooleksandrivska community of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Two Injured in Kharkiv
In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, local authorities reported two injuries as a result of the Russian attacks.
