Amnesty International’s Pen of Hope Award: Gazeta.pl Journalist Marta Nowak Wins Audience Prize

Journalist Marta Nowak from Gazeta.pl won the Amnesty International’s Pen of Hope Audience Award during Thursday’s ceremony.

About the Pen of Hope Award

“The Pen of Hope is an award for people who, through their media work, make the topic of human rights present in the public space. Their effort, reliability and diligence, as well as an innovative approach to the subjects and stories presented, make them important to recipients – and this is the first step to getting involved in human rights activities,” according to Amnesty International’s website. The main prize went to Jakub Szymczak from OKO.press. The distinction was also awarded to Paula Szewczyk, a reporter for TVP.Info portal.

2025 Winners

During Thursday’s gala, Gazeta.pl journalist Marta Nowak, co-author of the podcast “What will happen?” prepared with Miłosz Wiatrowski-Bujacz, received the Audience Award. Among the nominees were also other journalists.

2024 Winners

Last year, the jury awarded the main prize to Miłka Fijałkowska for covering inconvenient topics in mainstream media since the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a reliable and independent way from trends, while also highlighting Oliwia Bosomtwe for her book “How a white man. A story about Poles and others.”

Thanks to votes cast in the online poll, the Audience Award went to Dr. Kamil Stępniak, a specialist in constitutional law, human rights and new technologies. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Amnesty International in Poland, the Special Award was received by Anna Gmiterek-Zabłocka from Radio TOK FM.
