Drone spotted at brown coal mine in Greater Poland prompts military police investigation.
Police Response to Drone Incident
After 11:00, a report came to the Provincial Police Command in Poznań that in the Konin County, in the village of Gałczyce at the site of the Brown Coal Mine, a mine worker spotted an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle – a Drone. The Poznań Voivodeship Police Headquarters reported on Thursday that police officers from Konin and Poznań are securing the area at the scene.
Initial Assessment of Incident
The Prosecutor’s Office in Konin and Koło were notified of the incident. According to officials, due to the drone’s fall, no incidents have been revealed at the moment that endangered people’s lives or health.
Military Gendarmerie Investigation
The Military Gendarmerie announced that the proceedings are being conducted by the ŻW Department in Poznań, under the supervision of a prosecutor from the Military Department of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office Poznań-Grunwald.
Defense Minister’s Statement
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated on Thursday: “This was most likely a drone carrying out a mission on behalf of our adversaries from the east. This matter is subject to clarification by the military gendarmerie and police.”
Drone Identification
Piotr Żytnicki of “Gazeta Wyborcza” unofficially established that the machine resembled Russian drones called Gerbera. The article noted: “These are primitive decoys whose goal is to confuse anti-aircraft defense. They are very light, made of foam and glue. It was precisely such decoys that fell on Poland in the night from September 9 to 10, 2025.”
