Warsaw police thwarted a 23-year-old man’s attempt to rent a 2 million złoty Bentley using a false identity.
Attempted Fraudulent Rental
Warsaw police from the Economic Crime and Corruption Department prevented a unique fraud attempt. The 23-year-old man falsely identified himself as the director of a well-known company in an effort to rent a luxury Bentley valued at nearly 2 million złoty.
The suspect was apprehended while attempting to collect the vehicle.
Deception to Avoid Deposit
Investigators determined the man misled a company employee by claiming to be authorized to represent a known firm and its director. He then entered into a loan agreement for the luxury vehicle to avoid a 12,000 złoty deposit typically required for Bentley rentals.
Arrest and Charges
Thanks to the vigilance of employees and a swift police response, the 23-year-old was arrested upon attempting to pick up the vehicle. Police analyzed the collected evidence.
The suspect has been charged with attempted fraud, a crime punishable by up to 8 years imprisonment.
