Chase Through Sulejowka
The police of Sulejowka pursued a BMW driven by a 44‑year‑old resident of Halinów after it failed to stop for a traffic check at night. Using traffic lights and the sound of a radio truck, officers ordered the driver to halt, but he ignored the signals and fled down city streets, forcing a chase.
Crash at Parish Cemetery
During the escape, the driver entered the grounds of the parish cemetery of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Sulejowka‑Miłośni. There, he crashed into a lamp pole and a foot‑post, with part of the lighting fixture leaning against a tombstone. No one was injured in the collision.
Police Findings
On arrival, officers found the driver sober but without a valid driver’s licence, with the vehicle lacking compulsory car‑insurance and up‑to‑date technical inspections. The licence plates on the car matched a different vehicle. Blood tests for drugs were also taken.
Legal Consequences
Failing to stop for a police check while obeying an authorised officer’s command is an offence under Article 178b of the Polish Criminal Code, punishable by 3 months to 5 years’ imprisonment.
