Toyota to Build Major IT Hub in Wrocław, Serving 2 Million Drivers

Toyota Motor Europe will establish a large IT center in Wrocław, Poland, to support connected car services for Toyota and Lexus, impacting nearly 2 million European users.

Toyota Motor Europe will create an IT center in Wrocław focused on connected services for Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the company announced.

The Toyota Digital Hub will employ 200 specialists to develop applications, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity solutions.

MyToyota and LexusLink+ Applications to be Developed

Employees at the Toyota Digital Hub will be responsible for developing the MyToyota and LexusLink+ applications, currently used by close to 2 million Europeans.

These applications enable remote vehicle management, battery status checks, and various convenience services.

Cloud Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Focus

The team will also co-create cloud infrastructure to support connected services for Toyota and Lexus vehicles across Europe and provide cybersecurity support.

Strategic Role in Software-Defined Vehicles

“Toyota Digital Hub will play an important role in Europe in software creation and strengthen Toyota Motor Europe’s position as a trusted partner in future global work on ‘software-defined vehicles’,” explained Luis Lopes, Vice President of Information and Technology at Toyota Motor Europe.

Poland’s Investment Attractiveness Highlighted

“The location of Toyota’s research and development center in the field of information technology in Poland confirms our country’s high investment attractiveness and strong position as a hub for modern technologies,” stated Finance Minister Andrzej Domański.

Continued Investment in Wrocław

This is Toyota’s latest investment in Wrocław, following the establishment of a Shared Services Center in 2015, providing accounting and tax advisory services for all Toyota units in Europe.

Toyota has been present in Poland for 35 years, and this project represents another step in strengthening the company’s investment commitment to the market, according to Thierry Boitel, Vice President of Research and Development at Toyota Motor Europe.

Access to Skilled Workforce Key

The Toyota Digital Hub is being established in Poland due to the company’s access to a highly skilled workforce and leading technical universities.

Toyota’s Presence in Poland

Toyota also has a sales unit in Poland, Toyota Central Europe, which manages marketing activities in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.

The company operates two factories in Wałbrzych and Jelcz-Laskowice, employing 2800 people and supplying modern hybrid drives for vehicles produced in Europe.
