Ukrainian Drones Strike Major Russian Oil Pumping Station, Dealing Noticeable Blow

Ukrainian security forces attacked a significant oil infrastructure facility in southern Russia, causing a major fire.

Attack Details

Unmanned aerial vehicles from the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine struck the infrastructure of the Tikhorek oil pumping station in the locality of the same name in the Krasnodar Krai of Russia, the Interfax-Ukraine agency reported.

Strategic Importance

According to the agency’s source, the oil hub in this locality is one of the largest oil transshipment points in southern Russia. There is a large oil base and terminal there, which play an important role in the logistics of Russian fuel and petroleum products.

Aftermath

After the attack, a large fire broke out in the base. Recordings show several sources of fire – probably fuel tanks are burning. Russian authorities confirmed the attack on the oil pumping station and informed that 26 units of equipment were dispatched to extinguish the fire.

Broader Impact

The SBU described today’s strike on the Tikhorek oil hub as a “noticeable blow to the enemy’s oil logistics.” They noted this hub is the only branch supplying petroleum products to Novorossiysk. Such systematic special operations cause disruptions in supplies, complicate transport to ports, and force opponents to change logistics routes, weakening both Russia’s military capabilities and economic ability to conduct war.
