S8 Highway Paralyzed by Accidents During Holiday Travel

Two traffic incidents on the S8 highway near Warsaw have caused a 20-kilometer traffic jam heading towards Marek this afternoon.

Multiple Vehicle Collisions Halt Traffic

Two separate traffic accidents on the S8 highway, in the direction of Marek, have brought traffic to a standstill. The resulting congestion stretches approximately 20 kilometers, reaching the Warszawa-Zachód interchange.

The first incident, involving three vehicles – two Mercedes cars and a truck – occurred around 2:50 PM. Shortly after, at approximately 3:00 PM, a second collision took place between an Opel and a DAF truck.

Emergency Response and Initial Assessment

Four fire crews, police, and two medical rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters secured the area and the involved vehicles, while medical personnel attended to those involved in the collisions.

Fortunately, initial medical assessments revealed that no hospitalizations were required. Emergency services then began working to clear the roadway.

Ongoing Delays and Partial Lane Reopening

Despite the efforts to clear the highway, significant delays persist. The traffic jam towards Marek remains around 20 kilometers long, extending back to the Warszawa-Zachód interchange. Travel in this area is severely slowed, and drivers should expect substantial delays.

One of the three previously blocked transit lanes has been reopened, but traffic flow remains heavily restricted.
