The Polish Sejm has voted down a motion of no confidence against Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński, as the opposition failed to secure the required majority of 231 votes.

A total of 435 deputies participated in the vote. The motion was supported by 202 parliamentarians, while 232 voted against it, and one deputy abstained. With the statutory majority set at 231, the proposal to remove Kierwiński from office was formally rejected.
Accusations from Law and Justice
The motion was submitted by Law and Justice (PiS) deputies, who accused Kierwiński of weakening national internal security and causing a loss of public trust in state services. Critics argued that the management style within the ministry is reactive, delayed, and subservient to political interests.
Cited Failures and Concerns
Proponents of the motion cited a series of events throughout Kierwiński’s tenure, including rail sabotage, chaos at the western border, persistent false alarms targeting public figures, police crises, disciplinary issues, and inadequate flood relief efforts. The motion was signed by 79 parliamentarians, including Jarosław Kaczyński, Mariusz Błaszczak, and Antoni Macierewicz.
Committee Assessment
The Committee on Administration and Internal Affairs issued a negative opinion on the motion. Committee chair Maria Małgorzata Janyska described the proposal as absurd, detached from reality, and presented at a primitive, low level.
