Russian Drone Offensive Against Ukraine
Russia overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday (March 10-11) attacked Ukraine with 99 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles, reported the Ukrainian Air Force. The military immediately took action to intercept them. According to preliminary data, by 8:30 AM, 90 of them had been shot down or neutralized in the north, south and east of the country. However, nine drones reached six locations, causing damage. “The attack continues, there are several enemy unmanned aerial vehicles in airspace. Follow safety rules!” wrote the Ukrainian military.
Casualties Reported in Kharkiv
“The enemy delivered another blow,” said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terechov on Wednesday, reporting “a Shahed attack on a private sector in the Shevchenkivskyi district.” Authorities began gathering details. The attack resulted in two deaths and injuries to several others. The day before, the mayor had reported that a drone of the same type struck a private home, causing a fire. It is unknown if anyone was injured or died in that incident. Ukrainian authorities confirmed this was not the only attack. “The enemy dealt another blow to the Kholodnohirsk district. This time, a drone struck a road between houses in a private sector. So far, there are reports of two fatal victims,” Terechow wrote.
Russia Claims Intercepting Ukrainian Drones
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that over the past night, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 185 Ukrainian drones. According to the ministry, they flew over the Astrakhan region, the Sea of Azov, the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, and Voronezh regions, the Krasnodar Territory, the Kursk and Rostov regions, the Republic of Crimea, the Samara and Saratov regions, and the Black Sea. In the morning, Russian military detected “an enemy attack drone,” though its type was not specified. “The crew of the Tor-M2 air defense missile system from the Dniepr group destroyed an enemy attack drone with a direct hit in the Zaporizhzhia region,” the statement said. The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported “precision strikes” by the crew of the “Acacia” from the “Vostok” group, which destroyed Ukrainian shelters and an artillery gun.
