Warsaw Tram Services Disrupted This Weekend Due to Infrastructure Work

Tram services near the Warsaw University of Technology will be altered and partially suspended April 25-26 due to track work on Nowowiejska Street.

Infrastructure Improvements Planned

Tram operators will conduct work at the intersection of Nowowiejska Street and Aleja Niepodległości this weekend, April 25-26. The work will focus on the eastern approach to the junction from the direction of the Warsaw University of Technology.

The project involves replacing two switches on the eastern side, aiming to improve the reliability of the tram network infrastructure. This is particularly important given increased traffic on this section following the launch of tram connections to Sielce and Wilanów.

Service Disruptions on Several Lines

During the work, trams will not run on Nowowiejska Street between Aleja Niepodległości and Plac Zbawiciela. Several lines will be affected, with some connections temporarily suspended.

Lines 14 and 15 Suspended; Others Rerouted

Lines 14 and 15 will be completely suspended throughout the weekend. Lines 10, 11, and 33 will operate on altered routes in both directions.

Trams on lines 10 and 11 will be diverted via Aleja Niepodległości and Rakowiecka Street to Puławska, before returning to their regular routes. Line 33 will run between Metro Młociny and the P+R Al. Krakowska loop, using Nowowiejska, Krzywickiego, Filtrowa, Grójecka, and Aleja Krakowska streets.

Additionally, some services on line 16 will be extended via gen. Andersa and Mickiewicza streets to the Marymont-Potok loop.

Pedestrian Crossing Closure

The pedestrian crossing over Nowowiejska Street, near the Warsaw University of Technology and the Ministry of National Defence, will also be closed during the work. Pedestrians will need to use alternative crossings in the area.

Ongoing Network Modernization

These weekend works are part of ongoing maintenance and modernization of the tram infrastructure in a key area of the capital’s network. Passengers are advised to check routes and allow extra time when traveling through the Politechnika and Nowowiejska areas.
